I always knew I wanted to play a sport, I wasn’t sure what it was going to be but I knew I had some athleticism in me, my momma did track and my dad did every sport you can ever imagine. In the sixth grade my P.E teacher class did a unit on volleyball and I kind of got the hang of it. That summer I made the decision to move to Georgia and live with my dad.

When I moved in with my dad I told him about the sports I would like to play, out of all the sports that I told him volleyball stood out the most. I started to get more involved with it and did a recreational league for a few months to make sure I actually wanted to play volleyball. I fell in love.

By August of 2014 I was ready to play for an actual travel team. To get myself prepared i tried out for a feeter league at my local high school. But sadly I didn’t make the team. I was slightly disappointed but I knew the reason why I didn’t make it was because they already had all the girls they wanted from previous years picked out. So now I had to get ready for to tryout by myself which was going to be tough.

My very first club season comes to an end and I felt like I have gotten a 1000 times better than I was at the beginning of the season. Ninth grade was slowly approaching and I knew I didn’t make the team last year so I had to work my butt off to make sure I made JV. I made the team but I still had serious doubts because I was still was a new face. Over the course of the JV season favorites got put over me and I thought that was complete unfair but I didn’t let it bug me and continued to play my game. \

My dad received an athletic scholarship to the University of Wisconsin. His achievements always motivated me to make sure I don’t have to pay for college tuition. The next club season was rolling in and from that point it was game time. 15’s year in club season is when colleges start looking and they look hard, they don’t just see if you can hit a ball over a net they look for body language, how you interact with you team mates, how consistent are you and more.

Volleyball is a growing sport in North America so it’s very hard to get in a good schools with just “mediocre talent” you have to be extraordinary. Until this day I am still fighting for. Everything I do I have to excel in it and that will be my ticket to being able to choose whatever college I want to attend.
